BanQu is a software technology company on a mission to connect refugees, the displaced, and the world’s poorest to the global economy through a secure, portable digital identity that maintains transaction history through a proprietary blockchain-based platform.
Lacking a credit history or economic identity, these “unbanked/under-banked” individuals (mostly refugees, the displaced, and the world’s poorest) are excluded from the global economy. As a result, the poor and the disenfranchised stay poor and disenfranchised, while billions of dollars in aid continues flowing to conflict zones, areas struck by natural disasters, and regions of extreme poverty, with no solution in sight.
In addition to extreme poverty, they are also experiencing a massive humanitarian crisis with respect to the 65.3 million refugees & displaced people worldwide. According to the UNHCR, these refugees spend an average of 17 years in refugee camps. Refugees also lack a verifiable economic identity which prevents them from getting their lives back.
At BanQu, they believe their platform provides a solution to these challenges and also fixes the supply chain problem in emerging markets. They’d love to tell you more about it.
