HISTORY

THE COMMERCIAL BANK OF BURUNDI "BANCOBU" was incorporated, under the laws in force in Burundi, on June 13, 1960.

Before that date, its banking activities were carried out respectively by the Belgian Bank of the Congo and the Congolese Company of Bank (SOCOBANQUE). The BANCOBU was owned by ING Belgium (ex-BANQUE BRUXELLES LAMBERT: BBL) up to 49% until 2004, when these shares were bought back by Burundian shareholders.Today the share capital of the BANCOBU stopped at 101,880,436,000 BIF it is represented by 1,144,724 shares.

Bancobu has ambitious plans and projects for its customers. Its vision is to offer products and services that meet customer needs.

In its interventions, Bancobu is guided by the principles of listening, security and proximity. It has an extensive network throughout the territory with 37 operating sites (situation September 2014).

Bancobu opens its doors to branches and counters 7 days a week and has ATMs at customer service 24 hours a day.
