MISSION

The BHCDO has led the effort to protect and develop the reservoir in Barnes Hill. The plan is to not only restore the present reservoir facility but to develop an additional water storage area and to make the facility more pleasant to look at and with many practical uses.

For Instance, the compound has the potential to host a small recreational area, amphitheatre, kiosks for small items sales, and a couple of other multi-purpose structures.

The search for the appropriate funding is on and they are confident that this project will receive the blessings of those agencies who might be in a position to assist in this area.

What They’ve Achieved

  • 75 percent of the Barnes Hill community reservoir has been cleared of trees, shrubs and vines that would have inhibited the restoration project.
  • There is now a clear view as it relates to the state of the water storage tank, the run-off area and the general compound and its environs.
  • The fight is now on to rid the area of coralita (Antigonon leptopus) vines and the hope is that in the near future mason and carpentry work on the compound walls, the run-off area and the storage tank will start. The fencing of the area is also a priority.
