Its history is a story of continuous change to respond to the ever changing needs of customers. It was founded in when companies from the United Kingdom, Holland, Germany, the United States and Canada joined forces to share and expand their knowledge in order to give more support to their customers. It was known as Binder Seidman International Group until 1973, when it adopted on behalf of Binder Dijker Otte & Co: BDO. It continues to build international capacity, growing with strong local roots that translate today into clients from 110 countries to whom it provides services.

In 1988, it established a global structure, and the acronym BDO was placed before the local name of each firm.
