The Belgian Heart Foundation (BHF) was set up within the Belgian Society of Cardiology (BSC) to support and facilitate research into cardiovascular disease. The goal is to improve the care, quality of life and life expectancy of their heart patients. Modern cardiology is necessary for this. Modern cardiology is only possible thanks to basic and clinical scientific research: the engine of innovation. The know-how and the potential is present in Belgium. But existing funding for scientific research into cardiovascular disease is often insufficient!

That is why the Heart Foundation will annually award prizes and grants to Belgian researchers from the world of cardiovascular disease. The prizes not only reward scientific research, but above all make new scientific projects possible. Thanks to their research, they can better understand, recognize, prevent and cure cardiovascular disease.
