Bella performs a wide variety of advisory projects for financial institutions, such as private equity and venture capital groups. At times these projects deal with very specific questions, such as how to better position a group to raise a new fund. In other cases, the projects provide a broad overview of the changing environment, a group’s strengths and weaknesses in relation to these trends, and the resulting strategic implications.

Bella has undertaken internal training sessions for a variety of firms in the private equity industry, as well as sovereign wealth funds and development finance institutions. These sessions are developed in close consultation with the senior management of the sponsoring organization. They are always tailored to meet the sponsor’s specific needs and typically feature the development of customized case studies and vignettes reflecting actual situations that the organization has faced.

Bella has executed comprehensive performance reviews for a number of private equity and venture capital firms. Using a variety of proprietary approaches, these reports measure, benchmark, and explain the source of private equity groups’ past returns. Bella has undertaken a number of strategic reviews of current or prospective efforts by governments or development institutions to create an environment that is conducive to innovation, venture capital investment, and entrepreneurship. In some cases, these studies have focused on identifying best practices to meet a nation’s or region’s needs; in other cases, they have evaluated initiatives already underway in the country or region.

Bella often prepares custom research projects on various aspects of venture capital, private equity, and innovation. The reports from such projects vary greatly in scope and length, and may be used to guide internal thinking or strategy and/or provide useful insights to external constituencies.
