History

Founded by Jim Jackson in 1987, Bighorn Construction was primarily a concrete structure company working on bridges and irrigation structures. Operating out of Bow Island from 1987 through 1999, the company was eventually moved to Medicine Hat and had already branched out to commercial and residential construction. In 2005, Jim sold the company to Chris Friesen.

Chris studied civil engineering technology at NAIT, prior to taking a position with Defence Construction managing construction projects on several Canadian Forces Bases across Alberta. In 2004, Chris and his family were transferred to CFB Suffield and decided to make Medicine Hat their permanent home; eventually leading to the purchase of Bighorn Construction.
