About

blueEnergy delivers energy, water, and sanitation to some of the world’s most isolated, marginalized communities, providing a foundation for health, education, and economic opportunity within the context of a changing climate. Their community-based work provides an immersive, enriching learning platform for future global leaders interested in energy, water, climate change, and international development.

Community Development: blueEnergy has used its award-winning approach to deliver a variety of practical energy, water, sanitation, and climate change solutions to more than 30,000 people on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua and 16,400 people in Ethiopia.

Global Leadership: They have trained over 320 future leaders on the ground, providing them with technical skills and cultural immersion. They also participate in associations and global events to give voice to the isolated poor.

There are no quick fixes where they work. Their award-winning, community-based approach takes more time, but produces better results.

They don't give things away

They look for beneficiary participation in the form of financial contribution, labor, and hosting support to signal an interest in and commitment to the solutions they offer.

They stick around

They work to create lasting impact by building local capacity, working with local government institutions and other key stakeholders, and staying engaged with the people they serve.

They take diversity seriously

Solving the complex challenges they take on requires many perspectives. Their team reflects the diversity around them and they make it a point to listen carefully to the voice of indigenous people, women, and youth.
