Vision and mission

In order to support and carry out the main tasks and functions and pay attention to the authority of the BMKG to make it more effective and efficient, an apparatus is needed that is professional, responsible and authoritative and free from Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism (KKN), in addition to that it must be able to uphold discipline, honesty and truth in order to participate in providing fast, precise and accurate information services. Therefore, the policies that will be implemented by BMKG in 2010-2014 will refer to the BMKG Vision, Mission and Goals that have been established.

Vision

Realizing a reliable, responsive and capable BMKG in order to support community safety and the success of national development, and play an active role at the international level.
The terminology in this vision can be explained as follows:

1. Reliable meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical information services are BMKG services for presenting data, information on meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical services that are accurate, on target, effective, fast, complete and accountable.
2. Responsive and capable means that BMKG can capture and formulate stakeholder needs for data, information and services in meteorology, climatology, air quality and geophysics and is able to provide services in accordance with the needs of service users;

Mission

In order to realize the BMKG Vision, a clear vision is needed, namely in the form of BMKG steps to realize the mission that has been set, namely:

1. Observe and understand meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical phenomena.
2. Providing reliable and trustworthy meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical data, information and services.
3. Coordinate and facilitate activities in the fields of meteorology, climatology, air quality and geophysics.
4. Actively participate in international activities in the fields of meteorology, climatology, air quality and geophysics.

In more detail, the meaning of the mission statement above is as follows:

1. Observing and understanding meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical phenomena means that BMKG carries out regular, complete and accurate observation and data collection operations to be used to recognize and understand the characteristics of meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical elements in order to make forecasts and accurate information;
2. Providing meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical data, information and services to users according to their needs and desires with a high level of accuracy and on time;
3. Coordinating and facilitating activities in accordance with BMKG's authority, BMKG is obliged to supervise operational implementation, provide technical guidance, and has the authority to calibrate meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical equipment in accordance with applicable regulations
4. Actively participating in international activities means that BMKG in carrying out operational activities always refers to international regulations, bearing in mind that meteorological, climatological, air quality and geophysical phenomena are not limited and are not related to the territorial boundaries of any country.
