The Institute was founded by the four-time world soccer champion Jorginho and, since 2000, has used sport and culture as tools for social development in socially vulnerable communities in the neighborhoods of Guadalupe, Deodoro and Marechal Hermes, North Zone of Rio.

For the Institute, sport is a language, a fact exemplified in its pedagogical program, entitled Perfect Crossing, which aims to promote the integral training of students, using the Sport + Culture team as a driving force.
