The state enterprise "Moldova Railways" is currently developing at dynamic pace, marking in August 2016 a new jubilee - 145 years since the launching of the Moldovan Railways.
Today, the CFM is one of the core links of the national transport system. The implementation of the economic reforms on the bus and the successful internal and external policy are meant to increase the competitiveness of the railway transport, but also to strengthen its ethnic and technological potential.
The Moldovan Highway is a bridge between East and West, between the CIS states and South East Europe, which is of great importance for its successful operation. Part of the 9th Helsinki (Finland) - Sankt-Petersburg - Moscow - Kiev - Chişinău - Bucharest - Dimitrovgrad (Bulgaria) - Alexandropolis (Greece) railroad crossing the territory of Moldova. Moldovan bus sectors are included in the E-95 and E-560 international lines of the European Railways Master Agreement.
Increased attention is paid to the consolidation of international relations with the railway administrations abroad. They provide the enterprise with the opportunity to pursue a fruitful activity, benefit from the priorities and prospects of membership of the Rail Transport Council of the CIS and Baltic States (CTF), the Railway Cooperation Organization (OCCF) ), as well as the European Railways and Infrastructure Companies (CECF).
One of the indispensable components of the general transport policy is the participation of the MFF in the work of the above-mentioned transport organizations. These are meant to ensure the competitiveness of the local railway complex on the world market and to attract the flow of goods through the territory of Moldova. In a mutually beneficial friendly atmosphere, Moldovan railways participate annually in the development of real measures, which tend to improve the organization of international railway traffic, to solve the issues related to the technical, ecological and operational fields of the railway transport, as well as to create common principles of the policy European transport.
Over the last five years Moldovan Railways representatives have participated in a series of international conferences and activities such as: The "Railway Club" Conference in Sibiu (Romania); International Practical-Scientific Conference "Terrorism and Security in Transport" in Moscow; International Conference on Freight Traffic in Asia to Europe in Prague; at the XXVIIIth Conference of OCCF Chiefs of the OECD in Odessa; the Fourth Meeting of the Coordination Council in the Development of Rail Transport on the Baltic Sea - Black Sea route in Minsk; the coordination meeting of the volumes and the indicative conditions for transportation of the foreign trade goods on the Sochi railway line; at all meetings of the Railway Transport Council of the CIS member states,
In the summer of 2013 in Chisinau took place the second Summit Railway of Moldova. During the meeting were discussed issues on development of railway infrastructure in order to attract passenger and freight flows in the direction of Europe and Asia, financial solutions for investment projects in 1435/1520 area with the European Railway and Infrastructure Companies Association European Railway Industry.
Neither the OCCF cargo freight experts 'experts' meetings have gone unnoticed by the MFF administration. At this meeting, the representatives of the railways reported data on the work of organizing the traffic of heavy-duty containers to Europe-Asia-Europe, including the organization of the "Zubr" and "Viking" trains on the OCCF .
For the purpose of organizing and establishing procedures for the transportation of goods on the Moldova - Ukraine, Moldova - Romania route, border committees are formed annually with the neighboring railway administrations. Additionally, working meetings are organized periodically to improve the mechanisms for organizing freight and passenger traffic. Following the latest consultations with the Romanian side, an electronic program for forwarding preliminary cargo information was launched at the border crossings.
