California Community Foundation (CCF) is a public, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the people of Los Angeles County, and plays several major roles in the community. CCF stewards more than $1.4 billion in total assets and manages nearly 1,600 charitable foundations, funds and legacies.
CCF encourages and guides philanthropy by individuals, families, companies and organizations, and serves as a steward of their funds and legacies. CCF is also a grantmaker to local nonprofit organizations primarily in the arts, education, health care, housing and neighborhoods, and human development.
In addition, CCF is a partner to other nonprofits in addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations such as local youth emancipated from foster care, adults with developmental disabilities, and the elderly. And, CCF actively engages in community problem solving – from chronic issues to emergencies and disasters – with business, civic, community and other leading organizations.
Like other foundations, they make grants; but as a community foundation, they fulfill many roles:
Program Areas
CCF has made strategic grants of $100 million to nonprofits over the last five years to support a mix of relevant need and long-term systems change in five core program areas: Arts, Education, Health, Housing and Economic Opportunity, Immigrant Integration and Transition Aged Youth as well as providing Scholarships to students in need across Los Angeles County.
