About

CapitalPlus Exchange (prior to October 2010 known as ShoreCap Exchange) was founded in Chicago in 2003 as a nonprofit organization that specializes in technical assistance and capacity building in support of ShoreBank Corporation’s operations in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. CapitalPlus Exchange ("Exchange") is a nonprofit organization that supports financial institutions in the small business and microfinance markets. Exchange brings a practitioner perspective to design improved products, processes, and delivery mechanisms so that these institutions are better able to increase access to finance for underserved entrepreneurs around the world.


Small Business Banking Network (“SBBN”), an initiative of CapitalPlus Exchange, is a global network for financial institutions which serve small and growing businesses in emerging economies.


SBBN is committed to supporting banks, microfinance institutions, and non-bank financial companies in achieving their small business banking goals and priorities. We offer a unique combination of strategies and tools to financial institutions through: 

- Drawing on regional and global experts to provide strategic and operational consulting services
- Connecting financial institutions within our network to share and disseminate best practices
- Driving thought leadership, disseminating research, and sharing best practices with our network members and the world



SBBN Services

SBBN aims to dramatically enhance the provision of small business banking in emerging economies by increasing the capacity of financial institutions to better serve these enterprises. By engaging network members and industry stakeholders through a combination of services - from affordable and accessible online training programs and a peer-based community to onsite technical services - SBBN provides the leading-edge tools required to successfully serve the needs of small business bankers.
 

Membership Services - Financial Institutions that join their network receive access to their web community, resources and dozens of institutional members around the world.
 
Development Consulting – They provide strategic and operational consulting services to member financial institutions in the industry.
 
TA Management – They partner with investment funds to provide capacity building and advisory services to their portfolio companies.
 

Thought Leadership and Industry Building Services – In partnership with their stakeholders and funders, and based on their deep relationships with financial institutions around the world, they analyze, publish and disseminate information to increase financial inclusion in developing and emerging economies.
