Capixaba Institute for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Incaper)
About

The Capixaba Institute for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Incaper), an agency linked to the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Supply, Aquaculture and Fisheries (Seag) , is responsible for applied research, technical assistance and rural extension services within the State of the Holy Spirit.

The beginning of Incaper's trajectory in the framework of the agricultural system of Espírito Santo was based on the creation of the Association of Credit and Rural Assistance of Espírito Santo (Acares), on November 16, 1956. This institution aimed to raise the standard of living of the farmer , with the help of supervised rural credit, to increase agricultural production and productivity.

In the 1970s, other institutions were created under the agricultural system of Espírito Santo. In 1973, the Capixaba Company of Agricultural Research (Emcapa) was founded, whose purpose was to generate, adapt and disseminate scientific and technological knowledge, according to the rural reality of Espírito Santo.

Already in 1974, the Espírito Santo Company of Livestock (Emespe) was founded and, in 1975, the Company of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Emater), which incorporated Acares. Emater-ES, due to its capillarity, provided technical guidance to farmers across the various municipalities in the state of Espírito Santo.

In 1999, research, technical assistance and rural extension were integrated with the creation of the Capixaba Company for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Emcaper), merger of Emcapa with Emater. In 2000, Emcaper became an autarchy, giving rise to the Capixaba Institute for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Incaper).

Therefore Incaper is an institution that inherited all the history, trajectory, experience and credibility achieved by all those institutions that worked in the field of rural research and extension in the State of Espírito Santo.
