CARBAP, African Center for Banana and Plantain Research is an international institution specialized in banana (Musa spp). its headquarters in Cameroon, Njombé, Moungo Department. Its activities cover the countries of West and Central Africa (WCA).
Historical
Created on 1 st February 2001 in Yaounde by an intergovernmental agreement under the auspices of the Conference of Ministers of Research and Development of the countries of West and Central Africa (COMRED / COA). The first signatory countries are: the Republic of Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Gabon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
CARBAP replaces the CRBP (Regional Center for Research on Banana and Plantains), created in 1989 by an agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education, Computer Science and Scientific Research of Cameroon (MESIRES) of Cameroon, and the International Center for Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development (CIRAD).
