Caritas Montenegro
About

The first activities of Caritas in Montenegro are related to 1979 and the great earthquake that hit the southern part of our country. The next significant phase in the development of Caritas' activities was in the period from 1993 to 1998, when humanitarian aid was distributed to refugees from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and later from Kosovo.

Caritas Montenegro has been becoming an independent organization since 2011 because until then it operated within the Caritas structure in Yugoslavia and later in Serbia and Montenegro. Caritas' main activities until 2003 were urgent programs to distribute humanitarian aid to refugees, displaced persons and the impoverished local population. Over the years, other services and mechanisms have been developed, so assistance is provided through various forms of support.

Today, Caritas Montenegro covers various programs and initiatives: development of civil society and social economy, promotion of mental health, assistance to the Roma population, work with young people, work with migrants, development of social services for the elderly and people with disabilities, promotion and development of volunteerism. , emergency assistance to people in need, advocacy and advocacy, education, health care.

The central office of Caritas Montenegro is located in Bar and it serves as a focal point for two diocesan Caritas - Caritas of the Archdiocese of Bar and Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor through which Caritas implements its projects and programs in Montenegro.
