CDAC Network
About

Established in 2009, they are a growing network of more than 30 humanitarian, media development, social innovation, technology, and telecommunication organisations, dedicated to saving lives and making aid more effective through communication, information exchange and community engagement.

They bring together local, regional and global actors to catalyse communities’ ability to connect, access information and have a voice in humanitarian emergencies. This enhances the effectiveness of aid; fosters greater accountability, transparency and trust; and improves the outcomes experienced by affected people.

Such an approach is reflected in the Grand Bargain commitments of the World Humanitarian Summit, and is a precondition for achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The positive impact of their approach has been demonstrated in emergencies as diverse as the Hurricane Irma and Maria in the Caribbean, the European refugee migration emergency, Yemen and the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh.

Their vision is of a world in which the needs of people affected by humanitarian crises are addressed more effectively and quickly, and they are respected and valued as agents of their own response and recovery. They bring together diverse local, regional and global actors to catalyse communities’ ability to connect, access information and have a voice in humanitarian emergencies.

The CDAC Network is a member-led entity. Its governance structure comprises two organs: the Board of Trustees, which provides strategic and financial oversight, and the General Assembly, which elects candidates to the Board and makes recommendations to the Board with respect to strategic and governance matters.

CDAC Network is a unique communication-focused, global alliance dedicated to providing information and resources for communities in crisis to have a voice and leadership role in humanitarian action. Their Members comprise humanitarian, media development, social innovation, technology and telecommunication organisations.

The Network is supported by the Secretariat, a small team comprising three staff and led by the Executive Director. The main role of the Secretariat is to facilitate and support the work of Members and Partners. They are based in East London in the UK.

CDAC Network's annual reports provide an overview of the Network, its Members, activities, achievements and finances and take a look to the year ahead.
