Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina SA - Celesc, is a mixed-capital company operating since 1955 in the areas of generation, transmission and distribution of energy. During this period, it consolidated itself as one of the largest companies in the Brazilian electric sector, with national and international recognition for the quality of its services and for its actions in the technical, economic, environmental and social fields.

In 2006, the Company was structured as a holding company , with two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Celesc Geração SA and Celesc Distribuição SA. The three companies employ about three thousand professionals.

The Holding also owns a controlling stake in Santa Catarina Gas Company - SCGAS, and shareholdings in companies Dona Francisca Energetica SA - DFESA, Santa Catarina Company Electricity Transmission - ECTE, Catarinense Company for Water and Sanitation - CASAN and Plant Hidrelétrica Cubatão SA, in addition to other small equity interests.
