Created in 1996, the Center for International Health Support (CSSI) reflects a long history of presence in Chad of an international institution which is the Swiss Tropical Institute (ITS), which today is the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). In July 1996, with the empowerment of its Health and Environment Support Office (BASE), the ITS retained its presence in Chad through the International Health Support Center as its local office with a certain autonomy of management at hands of an entirely Chadian team.

On February 28, 2006 , the CSSI obtained authorization from the Ministry of Territorial Administration to operate as an association under folio No. 2180. It was recognized as an NGO on May 12, 2006 under number 05 / DONG / 2006. The CSSI is a non-profit and apolitical organization, its head office is in N'Djamena.
