The Centre for Development Innovation (CDI) is an interdisciplinary and internationally focused unit of Wageningen University & Research centre. The Centre works on processes of innovation and change in the areas of secure and healthy food, adaptive agriculture, sustainable markets and ecosystem governance.
Through facilitating innovation, brokering knowledge and supporting capacity development, our group of 60 staff help to link Wageningen UR’s expertise to the global challenges of sustainable and equitable development. CDI works to inspire new forms of learning and collaboration between citizens, governments, businesses, NGOs and the scientific community.
Our core expertise is innovation processes and capacity development for change. This we combine with expertise from across Wageningen UR’s five Sciences Groups to offer knowledge services that link technical content with processes of innovation, learning and change.
We work with clients and partners in the public and private sector in over 60 countries worldwide.
CDI's 5 Programmes
CDI organises its work around five programmes. These represent our own special blend of expertise within the Wageningen UR domain.
Each programme is represented by a team of experts, who combine their technical background with the services we provide. We match our skills to the requirements of clients and partners, putting together teams with an appropriate blend of technical, learning- and process-oriented qualities depending on the task at hand.
Through our focus on capacity development for fostering social learning and innovation we address major issues such as hunger, rural poverty, food security and climate change. Much of our work revolves around developing capacities for multi-stakeholder engagement, in which we seek a good balance between ‘process’ and ‘content’.
