Centre for Research, Evaluation Resources and Development (CRERD) is a non-profit, non governmental organization concerned with improving the understanding and delivery of population and health services and environmental development in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. The organization is an outgrowth of the Operations Research Unit and Network, Obafemi Awolowo University, lIe-lfe, sponsored by The Population Council of New York, U.S.A. for a period of four years.
Under the sponsorship of the Population Council, the crop of consultants now constituting CRERD conducted the Nigerian Family Planning situation Analysis Evaluation of the Family Health Services Training Programme with funding from Family Health International, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; Review of Social Marketing in Nigeria, Operations Research of Community Based Distribution Project under the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) as well as the impact of Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Knowledge. Attitude and practice of Family Planning in Nigeria sponsored by Johns Hopkins University, Communication Unit. Throughout the four Health zone, the Unit conducted over fifteen training activities in operations research for programme managers. Providers and implementors. Since its registration as CRERD, •the research outfit has successfully implemented a Facility survey for The EVALUATION" Project, Carolina Population Centre, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
To promote improved mechanism of achieving programme targets.
The objective of the CRERD is to engage in research and evaluation training in the areas of Population, Health systems and Environment in Africa particularly in Nigeria.
