CITEPA (Interprofessional Technical Centre for Studies on Air Pollution) is a non-profit organization. It impartially calculates, verifies and disseminates information on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and atmospheric pollutants. CITEPA produces emissions inventories, operating for the French Environment Ministry (MEEM), conducts emissions audits and reviews and contributes to capacity-building, thereby furthering action to mitigate climate change and reduce atmospheric pollution in France and internationally. CITEPA has 85 members (industry, trade bodies, energy production and distribution companies, consultancies, research institutes, measuring laboratories and approved associations for monitoring air quality [AASQA]).

For over 20 years, CITEPA's flagship activity has been the production of France's annual inventory of GHG and air pollutant emissions. As the national focal point for air emissions in France, CITEPA draws on reliable statistical sources and expert studies in every sector of activity to estimate, compile, synthesise and distribute data, analyses and other relevant information for public and private professionals and organisations. In doing so, CITEPA operates as a technical intermediary between the State (MEEM in particular) and businesses, especially those needing to comply with regulations on air pollution and climate. CITEPA has ISO 9001 certification acknowledging the rigorous conduct of its work and especially the production of inventories and studies. Finally, CITEPA's reliability and impartiality are guaranteed by the annual audits of its inventories by international experts, from the UNFCCC and UNECE in particular.
