The Popular Research and Education Center (Cinep) was born in 1972 as a non-profit foundation with a critical and alternative view of the Colombian reality. It is based on the systematic production of information , on reflection with investigative rigor , on popular education proposals for the strengthening of organizations and communities, and on intentional advocacy action in public matters.
From a preferential option for the excluded communities and victims , in particular those whose fundamental rights are not recognized or respected, the center encourages social change based on the guidelines of the Society of Jesus in Colombia.
In 2006, Cinep, the Program for Peace and the Human Rights and Political Violence data bank merged, enhancing the impact of their efforts. From this moment on, the institution is known as Cinep / Programa por la Paz (Cinep / PPP).
Cinep / PPP has a solid administrative organization that supports the development of its actions. It has the Icontec ISO 9001 certification and is a work of the Society of Jesus in Colombia.
