The CFEMEA - NGO feminist and anti-racist, public and non-profit character - was founded in Brasilia in July 1989 by a group of feminist women, who took the fight for regulation of new rights won in the Federal Constitution 1988. for the development of its work, the Center has adopted over the last 25 years, some strategies involving: outreach and awareness; articulation and mobilization; advocacy (promotion and defense of ideas); political communication; monitoring and social control. Also develops the spread of feminist platforms in the media and in their own communication vehicles, and produces texts for reflection and expansion of the feminist debate.
Since the establishment, the struggle for sexual and reproductive rights is present. Over these 25 years, in spite of the numerous reactionary attempts in this field, we managed some progress and many setbacks We contained. In 2015, the CFEMEA inaugurated a new cycle of activity oriented to sustainability activism. Therefore, we define key strategies: (i) strengthening the Feminist Free University; (Ii) boosting the political dimension of self-care and care between activists and (iii) the development of training methodologies in action to strengthen the feminist struggle, expand activism and resistance movements to the conservative offensive antidireitos (especially front Parliament), to fight against the criminalization of women and for the legalization of abortion.
