The CIRPS is an inter-university center that through research, education, direct services and land management aims to disseminate the principles recognized internationally as needed to ensure sustainable development.

Active since 1988, the CIRPS points to the spread of scientific and technical solutions to achieve sustainable social, economic and technological environment that guarantees the increase and sharing of welfare without compromising the environment, or any social group, geographical area or future generation .

Adhere to the structure 13 Italian universities involved in carrying out the activities with 172 Ordinary Members and 159 Associate Members , including teachers, university researchers, technicians and high level of specialization experts not involved in the university world, but involved in the supported projects, coordinated or carried out from the Centre.

CIRPS coordinates and participates in networks of excellence , research projects and local development activities at the international level through collaborations and agreements with universities, research centers, companies and national and international institutions.
