About

The Living with Diabetes Center (CVCD) is a non-profit organization that began its activities in 2003 thanks to the initiative of a group of professionals interested in working for people with diabetes.

In 2001, before being legally established as Living with Diabetes, the founders of the Center, Dr. Elizabeth Duarte, the Educator Miriam Castrati and the Graphic Design Gastón Calbimonte, worked as a Diabetes Group of Bolivia providing education courses in a small office provided by the School Health Technique. Two years later, with a larger group of people, the CVCD was officially established, whose offices were located in Cumaná, in the Demetrio Canelas Park.

The time that the Institution attended in that location, represented the time of greatest growth in all areas since there expanded its offer of services reaching to have all the clinical specialties that people with diabetes require. In 2006, thanks to the excellent work performed by the staff, the Living with Diabetes Center becomes a member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), one of the most important entities in the world working in the field of diabetes.

In 2009, the IDF recognizes the Living with Diabetes Center as one of the 6 organizations worldwide that stands out for its Excellence in Service in Education. A year later the CVCD opened its subsidiaries in Santa Cruz and La Paz, currently only the last one mentioned was in operation.

In mid-2012, the Center for Education and Information Living with Diabetes changes its name to Centro de Atención Integral Vivir con Diabetes, because in the same year the Institution inaugurates its own clinic in which it has more than 10 specialized services. In 2013, the CVCD celebrates 10 years of life committed to the health of the population in general.
