The CMG was created on January 17, 1997. It is the second of its kind in West Africa - ACG Friguia after that of Ghana; from which they have been much inspired.
Originally, it is a consular organization created by the six main mining companies in production: the Bauxite Company of Guinea (CBG), the ACG again Friguia, the Mining Company of Dinguiraye, the Ashanti Company of Guinea become Anglo gold Ashanti and SEMAFO. Other companies also at the origin of the CMG, such as Aredor or IMEX Guinea, are no longer active.
The vision of the Guinea Chamber of Mines is to stimulate, in collaboration with other actors, the economic and social development of Guinea.
