The China Foundation Center is a legally registered public charity as described in the regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is the world's leading source of Chinese philanthropic foundation information for shareholders in the social sector. They combine industry expertise with innovative technology to deliver critical information to leading decision makers in media, corporate responsibility, research institutes, gover- nments, and donors—powered by their comprehensive database. They believe that the transparency of philanthropic foundations is vital to increased donation flows, effective social solutions, and positive changes in Chinese society. Mission: To bring transparency to philanthropic markets through access to the highest quality data, news, and analytics, thereby enhancing the social impact of philanthropy. History The Foundation Self-Regulation Declaration of 2008 in China was in development for more than 20 years through t- hree periods: awareness of the importance of self-regulation, connecting foundations interested in self-regulation, and collaboration to realize self-regulation. The "Measures for the Information Disclosure of Foundations" passed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2006 requires all the foundations in China to disclose organizational information. According to Article 3 of the regulation, all foundations must ensure that donors and the public can conveniently refer to or copy the disclosed information; Article 4 of the regulation requires that the foundations disclosed information must include an annual report of donors, activities and grants (like the 990PF form in US). CFC is an independent non-governmental information disclosure platform of foundations, and a historic milestone in the philanthropic development in China.
