Cities and Infrastructure for Growth (CIG) is a global technical assistance programme funded by the UK Government in Uganda, Zambia and Myanmar, with the aim of unlocking the potential of cities and urban centres to become more productive.
CIG seeks to harness urban growth as a means to achieve economic development for job creation, wider business activity and a conducive environment for investment that will lead to poverty reduction.
Cardno International Development, along with partners Ricardo, Genesis, and Onward Resources International are implementing CIG in Uganda.
Through a demand-driven approach, the Cardno consortium is implementing CIG in partnership with Government of Uganda's Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), local government leadership, development partners and other sector players and champions, in the Jinja-Kampala- Entebbe (JKE) corridor.

The programme is focused on the Jinja-Kampala-Entebbe (JKE) corridor, with an initial emphasis on Greater Kampala. It also recognises the strategic importance of Jinja as a key East African trade route and a designated industrial city.
Through smart urban and infrastructure planning, power sector transformation,the development of bankable projects and mobilisation of finance CIG Uganda is supporting Uganda's ambitions to make the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GMKA), one of the most attractive cities in the world.
