Through its Foundation, created in 2005 by Naïla Saadé, the CMA CGM Group wanted to demonstrate its engagement in terms of Social Responsibility by giving full meaning to its own values: initiative, boldness, imagination and integrity. These values are essential for entrepreunership, but also for promoting general interest in our society.
For over 10 years now, the CMA CGM Foundation and its teams have been intervening in France, in Provence region, and in Lebanon, to improve the daily lives of children who are disadvantaged by disability, long-term illness or poverty.
In the beginning, our actions and funding were shared between children and the artistic domain. The Foundation renovated a theatre, helped restore exvotos from Notre Dame de la Garde, acquired an art collection including works like The Shark by Xavier Veilhan and The Sumos by David Mach, (now on display at the CMA CGM Tower), while also supporting projects related to childhood and disability.
Very quickly, the desire to devote all of the Foundation's resources to children became apparent, given the many projects that deserved to be supported. Today, the CMA CGM Foundation supports the work of associations and organizations working alongside these children, including international NGOs through the Containers of Hope project.
Since 2005, more than 200 projects have benefited from our backing, in the Provence region, particularly in Marseille where CMA CGM’s head office has been based for the last 40 years, but also in Lebanon, which demonstrates the attachment of the CMA CGM Group to its native country.
