CNV International enables national trade union organizations in developing countries to improve the situation of working women and men in their country. In addition it carries out publicity campaigns and lobbying activities in the Netherlands and in Europe in order to support and enable these improvements.
Trade Union Development
Many unions in developing countries receive little revenue from subscriptions of members. They often earn hardly enough to provide in their livelihood. This is why CNV International supports these organizations with financial resources, so they can promote decent work for their members.
Advice, knowledge and experience
Professionals working at CNV International are ready to share knowledge and experience with trade union colleagues in developing countries. Following specially designed methods for planning, monitoring and evaluation applied to workers organizations, they advise them on drafting work plans, for example, on capacity building or employment promotion schemes. Professionals working at CNV unions in different economic sectors in the Netherlands also share their knowledge and experience at company level on a regular basis.
Dutch and European Policies
The Dutch government and the European Union development policies affect world trade and labor migration, for example. CNV Internationaal constantly points out the Importance of adherence to labor standards to policy makers.
Information and campaigns in the Netherlands
CNV Internationaal believes it is important people in the Netherlands are made aware of the living and working circumstances of workers worldwide. It regularly organizes campaigns - this year on Equal Opportunities - Working Better - to incite people to action against violations of labor laws elsewhere in the world and to make them aware of their influence as consumers on labour conditions throughout the production chain.
