Companhia Catarinense de Águas e Saneamento (CASAN) is a publicly traded, mixed capital company that operates as a concessionaire in the sanitation sector.
CASAN operates in the municipalities through program contracts and also through agreements, which are the legal instruments signed with municipal governments and grant the Company the right to provide management, operation and maintenance services for water supply systems, sewage collection and treatment.
Considered one of the largest companies in the State of Santa Catarina, CASAN directly benefits a resident population of more than 2.7 million people (39% of the population of the state of Santa Catarina), in 195 people in Santa Catarina (66% of the municipalities in Santa Catarina) and 1 from Paraná.
The Company also supplies water on a wholesale basis to four other client municipalities operated with their own systems, which together have a population of over 200,000 people.
Covering a large part of the State of Santa Catarina and an extensive territorial area, the operation of sanitation systems by municipal agencies is coordinated and assisted by the Company's Headquarters (headquartered in Florianópolis) and by the four Regional Business Superintendencies, divided by the North/Vale do Itajaí (headquartered in Rio do Sul), Oeste (headquartered in Chapecó), Sul/Serra (headquartered in Criciúma) and Metropolitana da Grande Florianópolis (headquartered in Florianópolis).
