Concern Universal (CU) is an international development organisation tackling poverty from the grassroots. By building skills and connecting people at all levels in society, they help communities deliver practical solutions with long term impact.   Established in 1976, today we are helping over 1.5 million people each year in 9 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America: Channelling approx £12 million per year to support community-led development.   Concern Universal is a UK-based charity helping over 1.5 million people each year in 10 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The organization is also an efficient, effective and entrepreneurial organisation with 35 years of experience. It has been channeling approximately £12 million per year to support community-led development in Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea, Gambia/Senegal, Bangladesh/India, Brazil & Colombia.   The organization focuses on helping people build better lives, by working with partners to Improve food security and support sustainable livelihoods - through agricultural development, nurturing natural resources, and enabling access to microfinance and markets Improve health - through access to safe water and sanitation, preventive healthcare, improved nutrition, and action on HIV and AIDS. Improve respect for rights - through empowerment of women, children and other vulnerable groups. Improve skills - through literacy circles, capacity building, and other training. Reduce vulnerability - through disaster risk reduction, integrating emergency preparedness and response work with long-term development.   The organization achieves this by: Implementing cost-effective, community-driven, integrated development programmes, collaborating with others to ensure maximum benefit for those we serve. Learning from what we and others do, in order to continually improve the quality of our own work, and to influence those who can help achieve our vision. Contributing to the global movement to improve the lives of people living in poverty – working with individuals, NGOs, businesses and governments to help build a fairer world.
