COPPETEC is a non-profit private institution dedicated to supporting the development of technological development, research, teaching and extension projects, COPPE and other units of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro . Its public is composed of governmental, private, multilateral entities and private companies, both national and foreign.
The Foundation was created on March 12, 1993, from a department of COPPE, originally called COPPETEC, established in 1970. Since then its activities have provided more than 37 years of services to the technological, scientific and business community.
Since the first project - signed with FURNAS Centrais Elétricas in 1970 - about 10,000 projects have been successfully carried out in several technological areas and of relevance to society. Currently, its structure manages more than 600 projects simultaneously, which goes through modernization and improvement, with the implementation of more efficient systems and procedures, and training of its personnel.
In addition to the services provided in project management, from start to finish, the COPPETEC Foundation acts in the protection of patents, trademarks and other rights of the intellectual property system, such as computer programs.
The actions developed by the COPPETEC Foundation stand out for their professionalism, multiplicity of services and agility in the execution of projects conducted by more than three hundred teachers and researchers.
Obeying the legal requirements, the COPPETEC Foundation is regularly audited by the Curatorship of the State Public Ministry Foundations and other public oversight bodies, which obliges it to be permanently up-to-date with its fiscal, legal and institutional obligations. As a foundation supporting a Federal University, COPPETEC is duly accredited by the MCT and MEC.
