Empirical research conducted by the centre will test and refine the Cynefin model of complexity as well as establishing an evidence base for SenseMaker®, the primary research tool employed. Applied work will be co-designed with partners and result in the implementation of interventions in organisations internationally.
Complexity theory is the science of uncertainty, of understanding how to interact with multiple actors in multiple contexts. It represents a radical new paradigm in thinking of relevance for governments and industry alike.
Other research institutes exist in this area, the Cynefin Centre will uniquely focus on real world engagement in programmes that are consistent with the scientific theory but which seek to change the way we live and work for the better, creating new approach to innovation, peer to peer knowledge flow and engagement.
