FoRS - Czech Forum for Development Cooperation - is the platform Czech non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other non-profit entities that deal with development cooperation, development education and humanitarian assistance.
FoRS was founded fifteen NGOs in September 2002 and was registered as an association of legal entities in October 2002, which in 2016 was transformed into a registered association. Currently (February 2016) already represents 32 member and 10 observer organizations (among them are NGOs, foundations, international organizations and academic institutions) and 4 observers - individuals. FoRS organizations share a common interest in promoting greater relevance and effectiveness of Czech and international development cooperation and increase its positive impact on people in developing and transition countries. The main task of FoRS is to represent the common interests of members and to strengthen the relations and cooperation between state institutions in the Czech Republic and the EU and NGOs in the field of development cooperation.
In 2003, FoRS was one of the founding members of CONCORD - European NGO Confederation for Relief and Development. CONCORD is an umbrella association of national platforms and networks of NGOs from the EU countries, which together represent more than 1600 NGOs. CONCORD is an official partner of the EU institutions and, through FoRS can defend the interests of NGOs in the country.
