Dalit Feminist Upliftment Organization (DAFUO) was established on 9 April 1997 by Dalit women in Bardiya district. It is registered at the District Administrative Office Bardiya, and in the Social Welfare Council. The organization has been working for the empowerment, recognition, and social mobilization for the self-reliance and rights of Dalit and other marginalized women in Bardiya.
Since the establishment, the organization has been working in the field of social justice and human rights, local peacebuilding, strengthening the voice against discrimination on the basis of caste, gender, and identity. The core focus of the organization is advocacy on issues related to gender development and the human rights of deprived communities. DAFUO is one of the leading development organizations in the Mid-West Region in Nepal. It is a non-profit organization. With Dalit females comprising the main weight of members. The organization carries out its program activities in coordination and cooperation with various donors, NGOs, and INGOs.
