International Projects at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office
A well-organized IP infrastructure is the backbone in a professionally functioning global business community. It supports innovation and the protection of domestic IP assets and encourages foreign companies to establish export markets and invest in the country. DKPTO supports the development of an efficient intellectual property (IP) infrastructure world-wide. We provide unique and specialised know-how in all areas of IP.
The International Projects’ department acts as a natural first entry for all requests concerning international cooperation and donor-funded capacity building projects in all fields related to IPR. DKPTO is a government agency under the Danish Ministry of Business and Growth and as such we are the Danish national authority responsible for IPR. The objective of DKPTO is to be the centre for strategic information, and to facilitate and enhance the protection of rights related to inventions and business identifiers. The core competence of the office is to issue Patent and Design Rights and to register Trademarks. The DKPTO is self-financed and does not receive funding from the national budget.
Our main focus remains public and private institutions in need of capacity building in IP – including national IP offices, ministries, police, customs and the judiciary as well as private sector advisers, for example in innovation support facilities or at Danish Embassies. Also we seek partnering with consultancy firms requesting IP competencies for funded projects.
