data_labe is a data and narrative laboratory in Maré favela - Rio de Janeiro. The team is made up of young people from popular territories who produce new narratives through data. At the center of the developed projects is the question of the imaginary built on the city and its inhabitants.
The laboratory was born in 2015 on the premises of the Favelas Observatory, in partnership with the Data School, and today it is established as a self-managed and self-managed program. The actions are organized in three axes: content production; formation; and monitoring and citizen data generation.
During 2016, residents conducted a series of surveys that can be accessed here on the site. One of the highlights is the Community Communication Map that brings together vehicles from all over the Metropolitan Region. The laboratory received an award from DataShift Network, in partnership with Casa Fluminense, for the elaboration of a project to collect public data on public sanitation in Maré - Cocozap .
They also produce date labia, a podcast experiment that can be accessed on the Soundcloud profile . Activity updates, reports and logs are available on the blog and on the project's Facebook page .
Every two months they send to the network a newsletter with the news that can be subscribed here .
