About

The Delegation ensures the representation of the European Union to the Republic of Mauritius and to the Republic of Seychelles and the management of relations with the Indian Ocean Commission. 


MISSION
 

The objectives of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Mauritius and to the Republic of Seychelles are to: 

  • Ensure the representation of the EU in both countries. 
  • Ensure the management of relations with the Indian Ocean Commission. 
  • Ensure the tasks of the EU Presidency in Mauritius.
  • Promote and defend the values and interests of the EU.
  • Ensure the follow-up of EU policies in all sectors.
  • Facilitate and contribute to coordination with Member States.
  • Carry out CFSP proceedings.
  • Ensure the implementation of EU Development policy. 
  • Manage bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, trade and development cooperation. 
  • Contribute to the implementation of the interim Economic Partnership Agreement with the Eastern and Southern Africa – Indian Ocean region.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the regional maritime security strategy and to the CSDP anti-piracy programmes in the region.
  • Support the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs in the implementation of the Fisheries Partnership Agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with EU and international aid coordination policies – i.e. the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - and facilitate partnership with EU financial institutions.
