The Philippines' Department of Social Welfare and Development is the executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for the protection of the social welfare rights of Filipinos and to promote social development. The DSWD is also responsible in policy-making and empowerment of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantage sector and ensuring the provision of social welfare and development services through intermediaries such as local government units, non-government organizations and civil society.
