Derco Aerospace, Inc. was founded in 1979 when Eric and Max Dermond established Aerospace Industries; an upstart company focused on providing aftermarket spares to international C-130/L-100 aircraft operators. Experiencing early success, the enterprise was renamed Derco Industries, Inc. The business quickly outgrew its headquarters in Eric’s home and relocated to a 12,500 square foot location in Milwaukee; a few blocks away from the company’s current 190,000 square foot location.
By 1986 the company established DRS (later renamed Derco Repair Services, Inc.), an FAA-certified Repair Station providing component repair and overhaul services to commercial and military operators. Entry into the repair and overhaul market segment, coupled with an expanding international customer base led to steady growth through the late ‘80s. The company was renamed Derco Aerospace, Inc. in 1995 as part of a strategic push for platform diversification, enhanced service offerings, and greater penetration into U.S. Government opportunities.
Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation purchased Derco in 2002. While Derco’s traditional spares business realized steady growth, major opportunities were also cultivated in the logistics services area. Today Derco is the world leader in providing aircraft spares, services, and solutions to fixed-wing customers around the globe.
Notable achievements include Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Gold certification in 2009 to present, AS9100 & AS9110 certification, and celebrating 35 years of aerospace excellence in 2014.
