Derecho Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (DAR) promotes the implementation of socio-environmental management instruments within public management and the promotion of sustainable and equitable investments for the Amazon. For this, the Socio-Environmental Management and Investments program follows up and generates recommendations for the strengthening and adequate implementation of socio-environmental management instruments by the government. In that sense the work:
Promotes good practices in the extractive sector, through higher environmental and social standards on investments in infrastructure that takes place in the Amazon.
It focuses its efforts on actions in favor of the institutionalization of the National Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), especially in the implementation of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and in the implementation of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) initiatives .
Promotes the change of attitude of the actors with a view to an effective socio-environmental management within an appropriate territorial ordering.
It directs actions aimed at promoting good practices in energy and transport: improving the planning and implementation of safeguards.
It seeks to improve the tools / mechanisms for environmental assessment for extractive activities and infrastructure projects (SENACE, MINEM, OEFA) in order to generate sustainable investments.
Promotes the implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency to improve access to energy and reduce GHG emissions in environmentally and socially vulnerable areas of the Peruvian Amazon, within the framework of monitoring, promotion and the search for a sustainable energy matrix for Peru .
Promotes transparency in extractive activities and investments in infrastructure in the country. In this sense, this program leads the follow-up to the international transparency initiatives of which Peru is a part, such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the Open Government Partnership (OGP), seeking to incorporate the transparency of environmental issues in the extractive sector in Peru, influencing public institutions to include mandatory environmental information.
It promotes citizenship surveillance for extractive and infrastructure activities.
Implements a Civil Society Observatory for the monitoring of extractive activities related to environmental assessment, transparency and renewable energies.
