Deryck A. Gibson Ltd., began trading in 1956. At the time, the company specialized in the supply of steel, building materials, construction equipment and machinery to fill the needs of the economic boom taking place in Jamaica during the 60s and early 70s.
During the 70′s, the company moved into the supply of container handling and heavy equipment; including Valmet cranes, Dynapac rollers, route construction equipment and air compressors.
In the following decade, the company developed the supply of equipment to the bauxite industry and supplied Payhauler trucks, Grove cranes and J.I. Case excavating equipment. It also established a service department staffed with factory trained
technicians to serve as sales support.
During the early 90′s, the group established the supply of power plants and generator sets to both the public and private sectors.
Over time, the group has changed its emphasis to meet the changing economic and industrial environment of the island. To this end, the group was split into divisions, as follows:
