The Development Policy Center (DPC) is set up as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) to address the deficiencies occasioned by the absence of strategic, long range thinking on development policy planning, implementation and evaluation. It is concerned with providing links between research and policy implementation and thereby ensuring the actualisation of policy design.
Mission
DPC is committed to the systematic pursuit of knowledge and truth about the prevailing societal situation. It has strong commiment to the exploration of various policy options that are needed to address and transform the prevailing situation. The mission of DPC is thus primarily to enhance national capacity for carefully articulating, realistically formulating and effectively implementing those policy options that will promote overall development which is also environmentally sustaninable.
Objectives
DPC has a three-fold objective comprising Development intelligence, Capacity Building and Information Management. Each of this is pursued from the economic, socio-political, technological and cultural perspectives. Through formal and informal discussions, these are woven together to produce comprehensive policy analysis and recommendations.
