he Directorate General for the Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS (DIGECITSS) was created through administrative provision number 007794, dated May 11, 2000, issued by the Secretary of State for Public Health and Social Assistance, which transforms the Program for the Control of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and AIDS (PROCETS) in the General Directorate for the Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS (DIGECITSS).
In Article II, the provision that creates the DIGECITSS, defines as the MISSION of this entity, the reduction of the incidence of STI-HIV-AIDS and its impact on the individual and the Dominican Society.
The Directorate General for the Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS DIGECITSS took to the batey Palavé of Santo Domingo West Municipality a reinforced program of combat and prevention of STIs and AIDS. The director of the entity Dr. Luis Ernesto Feliz Báez informed that the activity is part of the actions that are developed on a national scale to protect citizens from these evils, especially young people and adolescents.
Among the functions of DIGECITSS is to regulate and coordinate the national response to prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections and the syndrome of sexually transmitted infections and AIDS.
