Directorate General of Higher Education and Scientific Research (DGESRS) (Mali)
History and Missions
Created by ordinance of February 15, 2016, the General Directorate of Higher Education and Scientific Research (DGESRS) is part of the continuity of the central services in charge of the higher education and scientific research sector which have succeeded until then.
While higher education was created and organized in 1962 with the aim of providing general and technical training for senior government officials, promoting scientific research and adapting public education to scientific and technical progress and to the transformations of social life (Law n ° 62-74 / AN-RM of September 17, 1962 on the organization of education and Decree n ° 237 / PG-RM of October 04, 1962) and that the first grandes écoles were created in from 1963 with the National School of Administration (ENA) and the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENSUP), it was not until 1970 that a National Directorate for Higher Education and Scientific Research (DNESRS) was created by the Ordinance No. 79-59 / CMLN of November 11, 1970.
This service then has the mission of ensuring the coordination and supervision of existing establishments, to which were added the National School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry (ENMPD) in 1968, the National School of Posts and Telecommunications (ENPT ) and the Institut Polytechnique Rural (IPR) of Katibougou in 1969 as well as the Center Pédagogique Supérieur (CPS) in 1970.See more
