MISSIONS
The Department of Water Resources Management and Planning (DGPRE) is responsible for:
conducting general studies relating to water resources, inventory, evaluation, planning and management of resources in water;
to develop and manage the master plan and the water resources management plan;
to set up and manage measurement and observation networks on the various aquifers and watercourses;
to make available to the structures of the Department and other users, the data banks and information necessary for the mobilization and management of water resources;
to ensure the promotion of integrated water resources management;
to study requests for authorization for the construction and use of water catchment and discharge structures;
to ensure the planning of water needs for all uses as well as their mobilization, in conjunction with the services of the ministries concerned;
to provide the secretariat of the Technical Committee for Water;
to prepare the meetings of the High Water Council and to ensure the monitoring of the application of decisions;
to monitor the application of legislative and regulatory texts, in particular the provisions of the Water Code relating to water policing;
to identify new areas of regulation and to propose the regular updating of legislative and regulatory texts;
to control the implementation of sectoral and tariff policies defined by the State in terms of hydraulics;
to ensure, on behalf of the Ministry, the technical supervision of the Office of Lakes and Courses of Water (OLAC), in particular the monitoring and evaluation of performance contracts;
to monitor issues relating to international organizations falling within its areas of competence.
