Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (CDEEE)
The Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies is the administrator of all companies in the energy sector where the Dominican state is the majority owner or partner, it also functions as a regulatory body for the generation, distribution and transmission of electricity in the Dominican Republic.
Main Functions Performed by the Institution
Article No. 138 of the General Electricity Law No.125-01, of July 26, 2001, attributes to the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (CDEEE) the functions of:
Lead and coordinate the State Electricity Companies, carry out state programs in the field of rural and suburban electrification, as well as the administration and application of electric power supply contracts with the Independent Electricity Producers (IPP).
Contribute to promote competitiveness and modernization of the National Electric Sector.
Permanently evaluate the behavior of the National Electric System in terms of generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization, with the purpose of promoting the adaptations of place.
Promote the development of energy projects, according to the needs of the regional and national levels, taking care of the relationship with the environment, under the principles of sustainable development.
Manage and apply electricity supply contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPP).
Interacting continuously with the economic, social and environmental environment, presenting the most appropriate formulas to maintain an open, permanent and systematic dialogue with the actors of the energy sector.
Implement State programs in the field of rural and sub-urban electrification, in favor of communities with limited economic resources, through the Rural and Sub-Urban Electrification Unit (UERS).
Contribute to the execution of social assistance plans that the Dominican Government projects in the area of electricity.
Enhance the company's human resources, stimulating excellence through training and stimulating innovation.
Monitor the proper income and investment of the financial resources of the CDEEE; verify the examination of the accounts that must be rendered by the companies that receive or manage funds or assets of the same and develop control and evaluation systems that allow detecting and correcting irregularities.
