The Dominican Institute for Educational Quality Evaluation and Research (IDEICE) is a decentralized public body, attached to the Ministry of Education, which is responsible for the management of the evaluation and research of educational quality. It was created by Ordinance No. 03-2008, of the National Education Council, on June 25, 2008.
The IDEICE is the first public institution in the Dominican Republic, with a technical character, which is dedicated entirely to the evaluation and investigation of educational quality and the proactive dissemination of findings that promote better primary and secondary education in the country.

Develop scientifically grounded evaluation and research processes, which provide evidence on educational quality, for the continuous improvement of the Dominican Educational System.

Dominican entity generating documented content, and coordinator of the debate on educational quality, recognized by policy makers and executors, by agents of change and national and international actors as a reliable source of knowledge relevant to informed and quality educational management.

FUNCTIONS
The Dominican Institute for the Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality, as stipulated in Article 8 of Ordinance 03-2008, has the responsibility to determine and report on the quality of education and the performance of the different actors, areas, levels and modalities in which the Educational System is organized and operated. To fulfill this task, it has the following functions:
- Design, promote and execute policies for the promotion and development of educational evaluation and research, which contribute to qualify the educational processes and results in the different areas, levels and modalities in which the Dominican Educational System is organized and operated.
- Advise the Ministry of Education on research and evaluation processes at all levels (institutional, project, management, curriculum development and learning outcomes).
- Establish a system of indicators for the education system, verifiable and periodically evaluable.
- Participate in evaluations and research carried out through projects in the educational field.
- Participate in the instances that have to do with decision making in educational policy reforms.
- Develop scientific methods and analyzes that promote reliable and valid results for the proper use of the results of the investigations carried out.
- To enter into strategic alliances with organizations and institutions of higher education, both national and international, in matters of educational evaluation and research.
- Establish parameters that guide the system of verifiable indicators in educational equity.
- Establish critical routes in the Regional Directorates of Education that establish a standardized system belonging to each zone, in each district and in different socioeconomic contexts.
- Submit annual accounts to the country of the State of Education, progress and challenges.
- Articulate with international studies on educational achievement rates.
